Water World: A Dazzling Dive into Marine-Inspired Jewelry

Designers Wei Huang and Minxin Li Unveil a Unique Collection Inspired by the Sea

The collection, which includes necklaces, rings, glasses, brooches, and earrings, is a tribute to the complexity and elegance of marine organisms. Each piece is meticulously crafted, with the designers using 3D printing technology to capture the most intricate details of these creatures. The result is a collection that truly reflects the beauty and uniqueness of life under the sea.

The designers drew inspiration from a variety of marine life forms, with each piece in the collection representing a different organism. The collection's standout piece, a necklace inspired by the Sporadipus, a species of sea cucumber, perfectly captures the blend of art and nature that defines the collection. The necklace's organic lines, dynamic surfaces, and unique structure evoke the elegance and mystery of the underwater world.

The Water World collection was realized using sterling silver, 18K gold plating, and crystal, with each piece measuring 270mm x 170mm x 50mm. The designers faced the challenge of capturing the complex structures of marine life and translating them into wearable art. The use of 3D printing technology allowed them to overcome this challenge and realize their vision.

The project began in June 2016 and was completed in December of the same year in Dongguan, China. It was later exhibited at the Lingnan Museum of Fine Art. The designers conducted extensive research, including reading books, watching documentary films, and visiting marine museums, to ensure the authenticity of their designs.

The Water World collection was awarded the Silver A' Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design Award in 2017. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, professional excellence, and innovation. The award is a testament to the designers' technical expertise, artistic skill, and their ability to evoke a sense of wonder and amazement through their designs.
