Unveiling Liz Sabol's Award-Winning "Sleeping Beauty" Necklace

A Sterling Silver Masterpiece Inspired by the Classic Fairy Tale

The "Sleeping Beauty" necklace is not just a piece of jewelry, but a story brought to life. Sabol's inspiration was drawn from the rose vines that protected Sleeping Beauty in her slumber. The necklace, when not worn, forms a heart shape, symbolizing the love inherent in the tale. The rose bud on the back, hidden from the viewer, represents the wearer's blossoming potential, much like the awakening of Sleeping Beauty herself.

What sets this necklace apart is its unique design and intricate detailing. Made from 960 Sterling silver, the necklace is hand-painted and features resin Champleve. The underside is adorned with an intricate design, and entwined vines wrap fully around the shoulders, dipping down the back where a secret rose bud lies. This piece is a testament to Sabol's attention to detail and her ability to create a piece that is visually stunning from all angles.

The creation of the "Sleeping Beauty" necklace was a journey in itself. Sabol used PMC 960 Sterling, oil paint, and resin to bring her vision to life. The technical specifications of the necklace are 200mm x 190mm x 200mm. The necklace is designed to be worn with a dress or top that has a v-neck front and back, allowing the necklace to drape perfectly on the wearer.

The design process for the "Sleeping Beauty" necklace began in August 2016 and was completed in January 2017 in Pittsburgh, USA. Sabol faced several challenges during the production of this piece. The major hurdle was planning the shape so that the piece would drape properly on the wearer and maintain the heart shape when not worn. The production challenges included rolling out a large sheet of silver clay and gaining a clean impression from the mold.

The "Sleeping Beauty" necklace is more than a piece of jewelry; it's a statement. It was awarded Silver in A' Jewelry, Eyewear and Watch Design Award in 2017, a testament to its unique design and Sabol's remarkable skill. The necklace showcases a remarkable level of excellence, introducing positive feelings, amazement, and wonder, much like the fairy tale that inspired it.
