At the prestigious Academia di Belle Arti di Firenze, Cui Ying found herself immersed in the mingling of traditional and modern values, as well as the fusion of Chinese and Western culture. To capture her thoughts and experiences, she began writing a journal with crayon, utilizing the technique of Chinese calligraphy. This marked the birth of "My Diary at Florence," a collection that reflects the artist's exploration of her identity and the beauty of cultural integration.
The scarves in this collection feature nine different designs, each representing a diary entry from Cui Ying's time in Florence. Through a graceful combination of Chinese calligraphy and Italian art, these scarves exude a sophisticated and modern charm. The fusion of different shapes and colors creates a harmonious and stylish atmosphere, showcasing the unique and innovative character of this design.
Using traditional printing and dyeing techniques on woolen raw material, each scarf in the collection measures 1400mm by 1400mm. The delicate pattern, lightweight feel, and enveloping nature of the scarf make it perfect for any season. The multi-colored central print, inspired by the CUIN design motif, adds a touch of vibrancy and elegance.
Throughout the design process, Cui Ying faced the challenge of chromatic aberration. However, her meticulous attention to detail and dedication to capturing the essence of Chinese calligraphy on woolen materials resulted in a faithful reproduction of the traditional Chinese rice paper. The scarves not only convey the power of writing but also embody the charm of art.
"My Diary at Florence" is a testament to the artist's journey of self-discovery and her celebration of cultural diversity. By combining Chinese calligraphy with Italian art, Cui Ying has created a collection that transcends boundaries and showcases the beauty of cultural fusion. These scarves are not just accessories; they are pieces of art that tell a story of personal growth and the exploration of one's true self.
