The Health Dandelion was inspired by the resilience and vitality of the dandelion, a plant known for its ability to thrive in challenging conditions. This inspiration is reflected in the design's unique features, including dandelion-shaped carpets and wallpaper, and a daylighting atrium created by removing three floors from the original building. The atrium, filled with plants and bathed in natural light, serves as a central feature, embodying the hotel's theme of health and vitality.
Yiming Li and his team faced a significant challenge in transforming the original building, a small shopping mall, into a health consulting hotel. The conventional layout left many rooms without sunlight, a problem solved by the creation of the daylighting atrium. This innovative solution not only brought light into the building but also created a warm and inviting atmosphere that has become a core feature of the hotel.
The Health Dandelion is not just a feast for the eyes; it also incorporates advanced technology to enhance the health and well-being of its guests. The building uses an air purification system, and the walls of the corridor are made of diatom mud, a material known for its ability to absorb harmful substances in the air. This commitment to health is further reflected in the hotel's operation, with room rates set at a premium to ensure the highest quality of service and experience for guests.
Despite the challenges faced during the design process, including the technical difficulty of printing large area carpets using computer technology, the Health Dandelion project was completed within a relatively short timeframe, from September 2016 to March 2017. The success of the project is a testament to the dedication and skill of Yiming Li and his team, including lv xiang, zhou quanxian, and shi chaofei.
The Health Dandelion is more than just a hotel; it's a testament to the power of design to transform spaces and create experiences. It's a place where guests can feel the sunshine, breathe clean air, and experience the vitality of nature, all within the walls of a hotel. It's a design that truly embodies the spirit of the dandelion, a symbol of resilience and vitality.
