Unveiling the Aoxin Holiday Hotel: A Masterpiece by Shaun Lee

Award-Winning Design Inspired by Luzhou's Wine Culture

Located in Luzhou City, Sichuan Province, the Aoxin Holiday Hotel is a beacon of cultural preservation and architectural innovation. The hotel's unique properties lie in its ability to create an atmosphere of mystery and intrigue. The lobby is a series of unconnected hollow stones, a reconstruction of a natural cave. The unknown and unpredictable inside the stones is released by excavating the internal stone, forming a private and semi-invisible surroundings. This creates a continuous experience of opening and enclosing through the interior of the stone and the gap between the stones. The result is a hotel that is not just a place to stay, but an experience to be savored.

Upon entering the hotel, customers are treated to a sensory experience. The alternation of light and space, coupled with the hazy, mysterious atmosphere, evokes a sense of tranquility and peace. This is not a place of brightness, but one of massive beauty, where people can perceive tranquility and peace themselves.

The design project, which started in June 2018 and was completed in August 2019, was not without its challenges. The cave construction was complex with strict requirements on the accuracy of each procedure. From building virtual models and splitting them into curved surfaces, to manufacturing the model using GRG and cutting it into several modules, each step required meticulous attention to detail. The result, however, is a design that is as stunning as it is unique.

The Aoxin Holiday Hotel is more than just a hotel; it is a cultural carrier. It extends the concept of the cave and the local urban texture to the internal hotel, thus forming a distinctive cultural carrier. The designers value the passenger's feeling when staying in the hotel, and also hope that the texture of the material as well as the created atmosphere can be perceived on a deeper level.

Shaun Lee's design has not gone unnoticed. The Aoxin Holiday Hotel was awarded Platinum in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020.
