The Runze Palace B02 is unique in its location and design. Situated in the national Olympic district of Beijing, it faces the city's largest urban green lung, a national forest park. The villas are spacious and of exquisite quality, making them a prime choice for residence and investment for elites both domestically and abroad.
Chang's design philosophy for this project was to create a space that tells a story. Drawing inspiration from classical narratives like Phantom of the Opera, Turandot, and Madame Butterfly, the villa is filled with hidden stories waiting to be discovered. The interior design is a celebration of the intricate and delicate, with precious stones, hand-painted wallpaper, gold and silver foil, crystal, shells, leather, mirror, embossed glass, and rose gold scattered throughout the space to create a glittering atmosphere.
The villa is a marvel of technical design as well. The floor of the main spaces is tiled with a collage of beige marble, and used blue Beirut marbles, Grigio Carnico Light marbles, Nero Marquina marbles, and emerald green marbles to collage the borders. The villa's total area is 862 square meters, with the highest point reaching 5.5 meters and the lowest point at 2.5 meters. The villa includes a living room, dining room, master bedroom, main bathroom, and a library.
Despite the grandeur of the design, Chang and his team faced several challenges in realizing their vision. The original design of the living room was too small and the ceiling too low, so they lowered the floor by 450mm and raised the ceiling to create a taller space. They also had to close the ceiling to above in the dining room to ensure the privacy of the master bedroom.
In the end, the Runze Palace B02 is a testament to Chang's design philosophy and his ability to overcome challenges. The villa is a majestic blend of East and West, a space that is both grand and intimate, a testament to the transformative power of design. The design was awarded Silver in A' Luxury Design Award in 2018, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
