This extraordinary packaging, auctioned by Sotheby's in the Tower of London in May 2015, is a true testament to luxury. Crafted by Portuguese artisans, it features exotic wood, silver, and natural leather. Inside, there is a book and five exceptional Porto Ferreira Vintage Port wines from 1947, 1952, 1985, 1994, and 1997.
The Porto Ferreira 200YO lot is a one-of-a-kind creation, with only a single unit produced. Its dimensions are 427mm in width, 456mm in depth, and 252mm in height.
Not only is this packaging visually stunning, but it also serves a practical purpose. The five drawers inside ensure that each bottle is stored properly, preserving their quality and characteristics. The key that closes the packaging adds an extra touch of exclusivity and magic to these historic Port wines.
The inspiration behind this design comes from the Luxury of Time concept. The lot contains five bottles of Vintage Port that bridge the 200-year age-gap between the auction and the bicentenary of the Battle of Waterloo. Each bottle holds significance, such as the 1947 vintage, which celebrates the wedding of Queen Elizabeth II, and the 1952 vintage, in honor of the Queen's accession to the throne.
Omdesign, the Portuguese advertising agency behind this masterpiece, started the project in June 2014 in Porto, Portugal, and completed it in May 2015 in London. Their meticulous attention to detail and dedication to creating a truly unique and luxurious packaging paid off, as the Porto Ferreira 200YO lot was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2016.
The Porto Ferreira 200YO lot is a testament to the artistry and craftsmanship that goes into creating exceptional packaging. It is a true collector's item, with only one lucky individual having the pleasure of opening and appreciating this rarity. This design showcases the perfect blend of art, architecture, and innovation, making it a true gem in the world of luxury packaging.
