Fengsheng Cai's Excalibur Limited Edition Packaging: A Luxurious Homage to Chivalry Culture

Excalibur Limited Edition Packaging, designed by Fengsheng Cai, is an innovative whisky packaging design that draws inspiration from the legendary sword of King Arthur. The Excalibur packaging design stands out for its unique opening method and special appearance. As the outer packaging is opened, the container rises up, reminiscent of a water drop spreading out like a flower. This sense of ritual is further enhanced by the inner packaging, specially printed with UV and using the technology of Ebru to present the water wave. The tags are designed as a seal with components of the sword, adding to the overall chivalry theme.

The design process involved a significant amount of research into luxury consumer behavior. Fengsheng Cai noted that as living standards improve, people are increasingly seeking out luxuries that not only offer personal pleasure and enjoyment but also express their individuality and aspirations for a refined lifestyle. The technical realization of the Excalibur packaging design was inspired by the Ancient China Tenon Structure. The container's gradual rise as the outer packaging is opened is facilitated by the convex and dislocation of the cardboard, which pushes the container upward. The weight of the bottle itself aids in its descent when the packaging is closed. The inner packaging is made of UV printing metal paper, while the outer packaging is papered with leather paper.

Despite the challenges of structural innovation and user experience, Fengsheng Cai managed to create a whisky packaging design that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.
