Met: A Business Card Stand That Expresses Encounters

A Unique Design by DUSHUI DESIGN STUDIO

Business cards are more than just pieces of paper; they represent attitudes towards work and career. The Met business card stand, designed by DUSHUI DESIGN STUDIO, aims to elevate the presentation of business cards and emphasize their importance to their owners.

The Met business card stand features a wavy curve design that allows the cards to disperse naturally, making it more convenient for users to take them without any overlap or difficulty. This design avoids the impersonal and uninteresting nature of traditional business card holders and adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to the experience.

What sets the Met business card stand apart is its ability to express encounters. The curves symbolize the free dispersion of business cards, representing both romantic and serious encounters. The combination of glasses forms a curve that signifies the communication of pure hearts. The intention behind this design is for users to enjoy the natural dispersion of business cards and for guests who take the cards to feel the warmth and affection of a first encounter with a bosom friend.

The Met business card stand is made using glass-laser cutting technology. The crossbeam and support plate are precisely cut to create a sleek and visually appealing design. The dimensions of the stand are 230 x 102 x 128 mm, and it weighs 530 g.

Assembly of the Met business card stand is simple and intuitive. Users can easily put the support chips in the base of the stand, similar to solving a jigsaw puzzle. Once assembled, the stand provides a stylish and functional way to display and access business cards.

The Met business card stand project started in March 2015 and was completed in February 2017. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted to ensure that the stand not only attracts users to take the cards but also promotes interaction between the stand and the cards. The transparent glasses used in the design create a visual attraction, much like flowers attracting bees to gather honey.

One of the main challenges faced during the design process was finding a way to achieve the natural dispersion of business cards through physical means. The goal was to create a stand that not only stably holds the cards on a plane but also imbues the act of taking a card with emotions, deepening the ideas and attitudes conveyed by the cards.

The Met business card stand has received recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Art and Stationery Supplies Design category in 2018. This award is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity and ingenuity, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The Met business card stand contributes to quality of life improvements and makes the world a better place.

With its unique design and ability to express encounters, the Met business card stand is a must-have accessory for professionals who value both style and functionality. It elevates the experience of exchanging business cards and adds a touch of elegance to any workspace or meeting.
