Boundary of Transparency: A Vibrant Office Design

An Invigorating Working Environment

The Boundary of Transparency, designed by Pei-Ching Su and Tsai-Ying Wu, is an interior design project that transforms a traditional industry into a modern and vibrant workspace. Spanning 280 square meters, this office space showcases a unique blend of black and white aesthetics with vibrant art paintings, creating a striking contrast that invigorates the environment.

The entire indoor space, including the lobby, office, and meeting rooms, features white walls and ceilings, black brick floors and doors, dark-wood wall cabinets, red chairs, and modern art paintings. This combination of elements creates a visually captivating ambiance that sets the office apart from conventional workspaces.

The design team skillfully incorporated natural and designed illuminations to create intriguing lighting effects throughout the office. Large floor-to-ceiling windows allow sunlight to flood the space, creating a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoor environments. The presence of greenery further enhances the office, bringing a touch of nature into the workspace.

One of the notable challenges in this project was the delicate skill required to decorate the ceilings, counters, and tables with folded plates. This technique adds an enchanting element to the space, playing with contrasts such as tangible vs. intangible, black vs. white, and flat and folded plates. These contrasting elements provoke a sense of possibility and creativity within the same working environment.

The Boundary of Transparency was completed in July 2010 in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. It reflects the designers' exploration of how to adapt the style of a traditional industry to meet the aesthetic standards of modern society. By infusing the office with vibrant colors, contrasting elements, and a connection to nature, Pei-Ching Su and Tsai-Ying Wu have created a unique and invigorating working environment.

This design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2018. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skills. The Boundary of Transparency exemplifies these qualities, contributing to the improvement of quality of life and making the world a better place.
