Deebot Ozmo 610: Revolutionizing Home Cleaning

Li Xiao Wen, Yu Xin Tong and Chi Xu Design an Intelligent, Affordable Floor Cleaning Robot

Introducing the Deebot Ozmo 610, a groundbreaking floor cleaning robot designed by Li Xiao Wen, Yu Xin Tong and Chi Xu. Inspired by democratic design principles, the team sought to create an affordable, intelligent cleaning solution that mimics traditional cleaning habits. The result is a product that sweeps before mopping, a feature not found in any other product on the market.

The Deebot Ozmo 610 stands out from traditional cleaning robots that follow random paths. This entry-level floor cleaning robot is equipped with Smart Move technology and uses a gyroscope sensor to move based on path planning, effectively avoiding cleaning omission or repetition. The V-shaped rolling brush and suction inlet can be interchanged as required. A 300ml electronically-controlled water tank has been developed for mopping hard floors, and users can control the robot via an app.

The Deebot Ozmo 610 is realized through the use of Smart Move technology, which allows it to move according to a path plan using its gyroscope sensor, cleaning in an S-shaped route. The quality of the machine has been enhanced with the use of IMR technology, enabling rapid texture and quality adjustments when faced with multiple sales channels. The product also meets environmental conservation requirements through the use of non-spray paint to increase product texture.

The Deebot Ozmo 610 measures 35*35*7.9cm and weighs 3kg. Once activated, the machine cleans intelligently and returns to its charging dock after completing its task. Users can add water to the reservoir and a cleaning rag, and the machine automatically identifies rag installation and changes to mop mode. Users can also control the robot remotely via the remote control device or app, schedule cleanings, and check the cleaning track and status of the robot in real time.

The Deebot Ozmo 610 project began in Suzhou, China, in August 2016 and was completed in August 2017. It was showcased at the IFA Fair in Berlin in September 2017. The project team conducted numerous trials to prevent dust swirls when cleaning and to efficiently clean residential floors. They tested and studied the relationship between the volume of water discharged and the effect of mopping and cleaning area, ultimately determining that 300ml of water can effectively meet the indoor cleaning requirement of a 120-150 m2 home.

The biggest challenge the team faced was to significantly improve the sweep-first-then-mop cleaning effect of the robot, increase the capacity of the reservoir, and achieve excellent operational experience while meeting various cleaning requirements. Despite these challenges, the Deebot Ozmo 610 was awarded Silver in the A' Home Appliances Design Award in 2018, a testament to its innovative design and functionality.
