The unique properties of the Pavilion design lie in its clever spatial arrangement. From the entrance foyer to the children's bedroom, layers are arranged at different heights, visually separating different living functions yet maintaining a sense of connection. The spaces are flexible and harmonious, accommodating various activities from play to dining, and allowing the inhabitants to interact intimately.
The design realization technology employed by Otherwhere Studio involves the use of natural and simple original materials, embellished with a few plants, to create a serene natural scenery within the space. The walls between enclosed rooms are dismantled, replaced with a lightweight “three-dimensional box” and folding partitions to divide the spaces, visually unfolding the interior space, increasing the room layout's flexibility while preserving privacy.
The Pavilion covers an area of 1600 square feet and was completed within a timeframe of five months, from July to December 2017, in Hong Kong. The project is a reflection of an independent division of space within the present closed residential pattern, showcasing the designers' innovative approach to interior design.
Otherwhere Studio's Pavilion design is a testament to the potential of interior design to create shared spaces that maintain privacy and flexibility. The design's success is evident in its accolade - the Silver A' Design Award, rewarded to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
In conclusion, Otherwhere Studio's Pavilion design is a remarkable example of innovative residential design, successfully creating a shared space that maintains privacy and flexibility. The design's unique properties, realization technology, and accolades speak volumes about the designers' expertise and innovation in interior design.
