Qianyifeng: A Unique Corporate Identity Design for an Art Gallery Agency

Inspired by Traditional Chinese Strokes and Western Innovation

Inspired by the traditional China Song font strokes, Qianyifeng is a corporate identity design for an art gallery agency. Designed by Zhanglian Yan, this project combines the strokes of the traditional Chinese "Qian" characters with the English word "ART" to create a new and innovative logo.

The Qianyifeng design draws its inspiration from the thousands of years of history behind the traditional China Song font strokes. The Song Dynasty represents the peak of art and aesthetics in ancient Chinese painting. By extracting these strokes and combining them with the English word "ART," Zhanglian Yan has created a design that bridges the gap between Eastern and Western art.

What sets Qianyifeng apart is its ability to express the form and meaning of traditional Chinese strokes through the Western English language. This unique combination conveys the concept of innovation and inheritance, making it a perfect fit for an art gallery agency. The design is used in the organization's external promotional image and opening exhibition, creating a familiar yet novel visual experience for viewers.

The realization of the Qianyifeng design can be achieved through various technologies and materials such as paper printing, screen media, and engraving. This flexibility allows for customization based on the specific needs of the project.

Qianyifeng does not have a fixed size and can be adapted to suit different applications. Its versatility makes it suitable for various promotional materials, signage, and digital platforms.

Through the display of agency logos and corporate image promotion materials, Qianyifeng enhances the viewer's perception of art and culture. It creates a visual design that is both familiar and novel, stimulating the viewer's mentality when viewing exhibitions and engaging in negotiations.

The Qianyifeng project began in May 2016 and was completed in June 2016. It was exhibited in Wuhan, showcasing the fusion of Eastern and Western artistic elements in a contemporary setting.

Extensive research was conducted to ensure that the design effectively combines familiar visual symbols of the nation, creating a new symbol that resonates with viewers. The challenge lay in finding the right elements and forms to communicate the dialogue between Eastern and Western arts. Through continuous research and experimentation, Zhanglian Yan successfully achieved this balance.

Qianyifeng has been recognized for its outstanding creativity and ingenuity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category in 2018. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate resourcefulness, technical skill, and contribute to improving the quality of life.

With its fusion of traditional Chinese strokes and Western innovation, Qianyifeng represents a new approach to corporate identity design for art gallery agencies. It serves as a visual representation of the agency's commitment to innovation and the preservation of artistic heritage.
