Meetin Japan: A Tranquil and Minimalist Japanese Restaurant

Creating a Tranquil and Mellow Dining Experience

MEETIN, a brand-new Japanese restaurant with branches in Shanghai, Beijing, and Chongqing, has recently opened its Japan branch in Osaka. Designed by Jun Murata, this restaurant offers a unique dining experience that combines sensitive textures, clear forms, minimalist detailing, and a thoughtful composition of lighting.

The main goal of the design was to create a tranquil and calm atmosphere that is appropriate for the meal and healing of guests. The interior of the restaurant features five distinct guest areas and an open kitchen. The use of a simple material palette, including gray stucco walls and white walls, is complemented by wood furnishings, creating a warm and inviting ambiance.

One of the standout features of the restaurant is its facade, which showcases wooden louvers and an oblique rock garden. This combination not only adds visual interest but also creates a sense of harmony with nature, further enhancing the overall dining experience.

The lighting plan of Meetin Japan is carefully designed to reflect the setting and craftsmanship of the space. Warm colors are used to create a cozy and intimate atmosphere, allowing guests to enjoy a slow and leisurely meal.

Jun Murata, the designer behind Meetin Japan, explains that the design concept was to respond to a wide range of needs by setting unequal differences for each seating area. This approach ensures that the restaurant can cater to customers of different nationalities, ages, and staying times, providing a personalized and tailored experience for each guest.

The project, which started in November 2017 in Osaka, Japan, was completed in March 2018. Throughout the design process, the team faced the challenge of balancing traditional Japanese style with the needs of the surrounding environment. By carefully considering the setting of price, taste, and overall space, they were able to create a unique dining destination that offers the best menu and services.

Meetin Japan was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2018 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award recognizes the restaurant's well-designed, practical, and innovative features that meet professional and industrial requirements. The design has successfully integrated industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings to guests, ultimately contributing to a better dining experience.

With its tranquil ambiance, minimalist design, and attention to detail, Meetin Japan is a must-visit destination for those seeking a unique and memorable dining experience in Osaka.
