An Elegant Blend of Vintage and Natural Style

The Zoe Shen Stylist Studio, designed by Ting-Yan Chen, is a remarkable example of interior design that seamlessly blends vintage charm with natural elements. Located at the foot of the Baguashan Scenic Area in Changhua City, Taiwan, this studio captures the essence of the client's business as a makeup and flora designer.

The client's desire was to create a space that honored the spirit of their grandparents' old house while incorporating their own personal style. Chen took on the challenge of preserving the traditional architectural style of the south area of Fujian Province, ensuring that the studio maintained its genuine character.

One of the unique features of the studio is the traditional door entrance, which stands at a height of 170-180 cm and a width of 65-75 cm. This architectural detail adds intrigue to the space, requiring visitors to lower their heads or lean to one side to enter. The vintage texture of the wood doors beautifully reflects the traditional countryside lifestyle.

Inside the studio, Chen has adorned the space with the client's personal collections and vintage furniture. Plentiful plants and dried flowers bring warmth and uniqueness to the interior, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The use of recycled wood for the tables not only adds to the vintage aesthetic but also promotes sustainability and environmental protection.

With a total area of 116 square meters, the studio is divided into private and public spaces. To maintain the desired separation, Chen strategically constructed an entrance on the small garden of the side wing, providing a seamless transition between the two areas.

The Zoe Shen Stylist Studio was completed in March 2016 in Changhua County, Taiwan. It has received recognition for its outstanding design, winning the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. This award acknowledges the studio's creative ingenuity, technical skill, and contribution to improving the quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.

Through the Zoe Shen Stylist Studio, Ting-Yan Chen has successfully created a space that pays homage to the past while embracing the present. This unique blend of vintage and natural style serves as an inspiration for those seeking to infuse their spaces with warmth, nostalgia, and personal touches.
