Exhibition Center of Greenland ShuiYueTa: A Harmonious Fusion of Tradition and Modernity

Li Zhang's Award-Winning Design Celebrates Qingpu's Cultural Heritage

Li Zhang's inspiration for the design came from the rich cultural heritage of Qingpu District, known as the cultural source of Shanghai and a hub of civilization exchange during the Tang and Song Dynasties. The designer believes that architecture and indoor space are pivotal carriers for culture, representing not only magnificent experiences but also the cultures themselves. With this in mind, Zhang set out to create a space that would pass down the unique cultures of Qingpu.

The Exhibition Center of Greenland ShuiYueTa stands out for its clear-cut design style and use of materials that integrate traditional elements, expressing a contemporary majestic atmosphere. The design reduces sophistication to a minimum level, focusing instead on the Chinese-style essence, the rigorous space structure, and the use of stones and woods, which have transformed into visual aesthetics.

The project, which spans 1900 square meters, was completed in 2017. It represents an excellent consolidation of nature and humanity, with the design focusing on the connections between human inclinations and nature. This approach gratifies the clients' preferences while also reflecting the multiple values of design.

One of the challenges faced in the design process was creating the admirable beauty of natural landscaping. To overcome this, Zhang applied gray colors and textures that exemplify the essential space characteristics. Each space emphasizes detail-oriented dedication and affectional attachment. The decoration selections unveil the landscaping elements; the matte metallic textures and old artworks manifest a soothing atmosphere; the dull colors diffuse the exquisite delicacy and nobility.

This remarkable design has not gone unnoticed. In 2019, the Exhibition Center of Greenland ShuiYueTa was awarded Silver in the A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award. This prestigious accolade is rewarded to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
