A Cozy Respite: A Minimalist and Moody Commercial Office Reception and Lounge

Creating a Welcoming and Relaxing Space for Zalora's Singapore Office

Upon entering the Zalora office, visitors are greeted by a stunning curved white wall that stretches into the reception area. This curved feature acts as an extended arm of an usher, welcoming guests with its clean and professional look. The reception area itself is treated with a white travertine effect, giving it a tactile quality and instantly brightening the space.

Beyond the reception area, a large dual-purpose space serves as both a lounge and a training room. The lounge area features clusters of pendant lights hanging from the ceiling, creating a striking visual element. These lights are surrounded by frames decorated with artificial greenery, evoking a botanical vibe and softening the atmosphere. The choice of warm lighting adds to the moody and relaxing ambiance of the space.

One of the key challenges in designing this space was to create flexibility. The lounge area needed to serve multiple purposes, from a casual lounge area to a training room and even a large meeting area for company-wide gatherings. To achieve this, bi-fold doors and panels were used to easily segregate the space when needed. Mobile furniture was strategically placed to allow for easy reconfiguration.

The design also took into consideration the unblocked view from the office. The flooring was laid diagonally, directing staff and guests towards the best view. The transition between the reception, lounge area, and training room was carefully designed to maintain a consistent and professional brand image.

Komorebi Pte Ltd successfully created a cozy respite within the Zalora office, providing a welcoming and relaxing space for both staff and visitors. This innovative design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2019, recognizing its outstanding creativity and contribution to quality of life improvements.
