Vanke Park Avenue Sales Center: A Modern Take on Traditional Spaces

Redefining Spaces with 138 Degree Park by Ruoyu Li

Vanke Park Avenue Sales Center, a unique project by Ruoyu Li, redefines traditional spaces with a modern twist inspired by the natural landscape of Suzhou. This award-winning design showcases a perfect blend of classic shapes and modern lines, creating a surreal reality in a new look.

The design, named 138 Degree Park, is a testament to Li's vision of a modern identity for the sales center that challenges the traditional perception of spaces. The project, completed in July 2017 in Kunshan, Suzhou, China, is a unique name given to the work done by Ruoyu Li and his interior design team. The design's unique properties include the 138 degree diamonds that perfectly combine the classic shape and the modern lines, creating a surreal reality in a new look.

The design was inspired by the natural landscape in Suzhou, with water flowing beneath the little bridges, providing a great inspiration to the contemporary design. This inspiration naturally involved the Jiangnan temperament of pretty bridges and the attic pavilions. The design also mimics the organic growth of living organisms where countless setbacks and opportunities converge as they grow.

Using parametric design method, the designers were able to simulate a thriving scene of organic growth using those unique 138 degree diamonds. The designers use the quadrant principle of xyz axis to define the growths of the diamonds with various functions that set within the 4m-8m physical axial boundary. The growing diamonds then materialize into various functional areas, giving a rhythmic rhythm to the architectural space.

The uniform modern decorative language not only reconstructed the cultural characteristics of Jiangnan heritage, but also ensured that the functional needs of a variety of sites. This made the space become more chaotic and orderly, providing a way of thinking for the future micro park design in the city. The design also faced creative, technical and research challenges, including the creation of a one of a kind spatial experience that feels familiar yet strange.

The project was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is rewarded to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
