Sustainability Report Design Inspired by Peacock Feathers

The Towngas Sustainability Report stands out with its unique design inspired by the vibrant colors and graceful feathers of a peacock. Ng Wai Ming Chris, the designer behind this project, drew inspiration from the peacock's ability to expand its feathers when facing challenges, symbolizing growth and progress.

The cover layout of the report prominently features the flame, a key element of Towngas' iconic logo. The flame is created using layers of paper artwork, forming both the flame logo and the feathers of a peacock. The opening animation of the feathers represents Towngas extending its past corporate vision to a greener future, which serves as the theme of this year's report.

To create a visually impactful design while maintaining a human touch, the report incorporates a harmonious blend of muted and vivid colors. Green and blue hues are used throughout the report, not only for consistency but also to signify Towngas' transition towards a brighter and greener future.

The peacock feather is a recurring graphic element in the report, used as supporting graphics and in customized infographic designs. This consistent use enhances the overall concept and reinforces the theme of sustainability. The design team, including Sin King Man Kelly, Rao Amandeep, and Tse Kin Wah Jeff, collaborated to ensure the report's technical specifications, such as the brochure dimensions of 210mm width and 297mm height, were met.

The Towngas Sustainability Report serves as a visual representation of the company's commitment to sustainability. The bold feather image on the cover signifies Towngas' readiness to go the extra mile with a strong sustainability vision and a solid foundation. By embracing innovative solutions, Towngas aims to create a glittering future for the community.

The project, which took place in Hong Kong from March to August 2018, showcases the dedication of the design team in capturing Towngas' sustainability development vision and mission. The report was published in November 2018, highlighting the company's long-standing role as a reliable energy supplier and its continuous contribution to the economic growth and livelihood improvement of Hong Kong.

The Towngas Sustainability Report was recognized for its outstanding design with an Iron A' Design Award in the Print and Published Media Design category in 2019. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate innovation, practicality, and adherence to professional and industrial standards. The report's design language and concept effectively convey Towngas' core sustainability values, making it a deserving recipient of this accolade.
