Revolutionizing the Cinema Experience

Movie tickets have always been an essential part of the cinema experience, but they can sometimes pose challenges, especially in dark theaters. Li Peitong, a renowned designer, recognized this issue and came up with a brilliant solution - Shiny Movie Tickets.

The inspiration for these unique movie tickets came from the inconvenience of finding seat numbers in a dark cinema. Li Peitong noticed that when the lights are out, it becomes difficult to see the seat numbers on traditional tickets. Using a phone's flashlight or screen can be disruptive to other moviegoers. To address this problem, Li Peitong employed hollowed-out printing technology to print the seat number and row number on the ticket itself.

The design of Shiny Movie Tickets allows users to easily identify their seats by simply holding up the ticket towards the cinema screen. The hollowed-out printing allows the glowing screen to illuminate the seat number and row number, providing a clear and convenient solution. This innovative design ensures that other audience members are not disturbed by the use of flashlights or phone screens.

The realization of this design involves the use of print and hollow print techniques. The tickets are printed on paper with dimensions of 100mm x 60mm x 0.5mm, making them compact and easy to handle.

Li Peitong and the design team, including Lu Wang, Xin Che, Jingyao Xu, and Anqi Liu, worked on this project in Shenyang starting in February 2019. Their research involved careful observation of the pain points experienced by moviegoers. By addressing the challenge of finding seats in the dark, they have significantly improved the cinema experience.

Shiny Movie Tickets have garnered recognition in the design community and were awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate innovation, practicality, and adherence to professional and industrial standards. The tickets have been praised for their integration of industry best practices and their ability to enhance the overall movie-watching experience.
