The unique atmosphere of the Misty Little Forest illustrations is created through the use of colored pencil and watercolor on paper. The blue-ish and damp texture, reminiscent of earth, sets the tone for the series. Cream and white colored pencil overlaid on the green and blue colors evoke a calm and foggy mood. Watercolor is used to depict the leaves and stems in the background, adding to the soft and ethereal texture.

Measuring 200 mm x 200 mm, each illustration is meticulously crafted with attention to detail. The artist's research involved observing and sketching shady stumps and clover-filled areas, capturing the essence of the mysterious world. Graphic tools like Photoshop were also utilized to visualize the desired atmosphere quickly and intuitively.

One of the main challenges faced by the artist was to prevent the illustrations from becoming dull or monotonous. To overcome this, a variety of colored pencils in green and blue tones were mixed to create diverse and soft colors. The background was carefully colored multiple times with a thin yellow shade to achieve the desired effect.

The Misty Little Forest illustrations invite viewers to experience a sense of comfort and mystery simultaneously. The natural representation of leaves using colored pencils and the inclusion of whimsical red-hatted elves bring the small forest to life. Do Kyung Lee's skillful use of graphic tools enhances the overall impact of the illustrations.

The Misty Little Forest series was exhibited at the Seoul Illustration Fair (SIF) 2018, captivating audiences with its enchanting atmosphere. The project began in November 2018 in Korea and showcases the artist's dedication to capturing the beauty of the natural world.
