Golden A' Design Award Winner Transforms Spa Experience with Innovative Design

According to Freud, experience is an instant fantasy; it is a recollection of the past and a feeling of the present. The understated and ordinary word "feeling" is the key to the whole design of Jiyu Spa. The design aims to arouse sympathy, as sympathy is the radar people use to explore the world.

Jiyu Spa stands out for its unique properties. Visitors are immersed in a large-scale peaceful picture, where the senses are awakened by the visible world. The feelings and images once ignored in life are represented here, allowing people to rediscover and feel life with a specific attitude or a special perspective.

The spa's dramatic effect is created by the use of transparent and reflective glasses. These elements are used to show hidden contents, freeze-frame moments, express wordless feelings, and show the balance between light and shadow and surroundings. The result is a space where three-dimensional depth is blurred, and the dynamic picture is transformed into a four-dimensional direction of time and space.

The project, which spans 2000 square meters, is a mysterious and profound place where people who are increasingly restless can find peace. Here, one can see the light slowly touching everything and hear the sound of the flowers gradually blooming. The spa purifies not only the human body but also the mind.

The design of Jiyu Spa is the result of a collaborative effort. Chief designer Tianwen Sun worked with collaborative designers Liu Dong and Cao Xindi to bring this vision to life. The project started in 2018 and was completed in 2019 in Danyan, Jiangsu, China.

The design team faced several challenges in creating this unique spa experience. Glass boxes and a waterfall are the key design elements. Layers of glasses form the first highlighted space, where light and shadow create a dreamy visual effect. The waterfall appears infinitely big by the reflection of glass, as if the visitors are surrounded by waterfall, thus becoming fantastic and mysterious.

In recognition of its innovative design and unique properties, Jiyu Spa was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
