Love Tea: A New Dimension in Dining Space Design

Jane Ao's Award-Winning Design Blends Tradition with Innovation

Jane Ao's inspiration for Love Tea came from the tranquility and serenity of Chinese landscape paintings. The design, spread across 220 square meters, features eight private tea rooms, each no less than 6 square meters, ensuring guests don't feel confined. The space also includes a small discussion area, enclosed by wooden grilles, that can comfortably accommodate 8-12 people. The elements of mountains and water, integral to Chinese landscape art, are subtly incorporated throughout the design.

What sets Love Tea apart is its unique use of materials and space division. Each private room is separated by landscape stones, creating a sense of independence between adjacent rooms. The walls, adorned with crepe and wooden grilles, provide a secondary partition. The chosen fabric's dense weave effect ensures privacy, while its transparency gives occupants the feeling of being immersed in a landscape.

The realization of Love Tea was achieved through the use of wooden grilles, crepe, washed stone, and stone. The design caters to tea enthusiasts and business people alike, offering a comfortable and serene environment for negotiation or relaxation. Each guest is provided with an exclusive tea set and butler service, enhancing the overall experience.

The Love Tea project, located in Shaanxi, was completed within a six-month timeframe, from July to December 2018. The design process involved extensive research to ensure the space was suitable for its intended audience. Ao faced the challenge of incorporating the traditional tea room's entertainment function while also providing a space conducive to business negotiations. The solution was a design that seamlessly blended these two functions while staying true to Chinese tea culture.

Love Tea is a shining example of Jane Ao's innovative design approach, earning her the Golden A' Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is given to designs that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
