Alessandro De Marco drew inspiration from emotions, aiming to encapsulate the entire summer event in one frame. The floating objects in the design evoke a touch of surrealism, adding a magical element reminiscent of beautiful summer memories. The design's unique properties lie in its ability to convey the core elements of the event - food, drink, party, and culture - through a mix of iconic symbols.
The color palette, reminiscent of a summer sky at sunset, sets the tone for the event, which begins at sunset. A significant symbol in the design is the shadow in the background, representing the Gasometro, a large structure at the event location that lends its name to the event.
The design was primarily realized through graphic realization using Photoshop and was produced in both print and video versions. The print version was adapted to various sizes, with the most common being 4x3m. The video version was tailored to standard social media sizes.
The design team faced the challenge of identifying the perfect objects to feature in the advertisement to make it appealing and clear. They worked extensively on coding the event's iconic symbols, aiming to present only the necessary information and achieve a balance between minimal design and effective communication.
In conclusion, Gasometro 2015 is a testament to Alessandro De Marco's ability to translate emotions and event elements into a surrealistic and symbolic design. This design not only won the Silver A' Advertising, Marketing and Communication Design Award in 2019 but also successfully captured the spirit of a Roman summer event, making it a remarkable piece in the realm of advertising design.
