Showcasing the Intersection of Fashion and Design

A Whimsical Wander, a high-end women's fashion brand, sought to create a showroom that reflected its classic, chic, and feminine aesthetic. Collaborating with architect Hyuntek Yoon, the brand transformed an old office building in Seoul, South Korea into a stunning showcase for its delicate pieces.

The showroom features three chambers, each defined by a unique color scheme. The Pink Chamber, White Chamber, and Grey Chamber offer distinct environments that cater to different aspects of the brand's identity and function. The use of color not only separates the spaces but also creates a visual language that communicates the purpose of each room.

One of the key strengths of this design lies in its ability to maximize the spatial experience within a small footprint. By employing spatial contrast through color and arch-shaped portals, the showroom feels larger and more dynamic than its actual size. This clever use of design elements enhances the overall experience for both the fashion designer and her clients.

The realization of this design involved the use of interior paint on gypsum board for the walls and ceilings, as well as floor tiles on a concrete slab. These materials were carefully chosen to complement the brand's aesthetic while ensuring durability and functionality.

Despite the challenges posed by the existing building, such as water leakage issues, the design team successfully overcame these obstacles to create a showroom that truly embodies the essence of A Whimsical Wander. The completion of this project in May 2018 marked a significant milestone for the brand, providing a space that represents its brand image and values.

The A Whimsical Wander Showroom has received recognition for its outstanding design. In 2019, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious accolade celebrates designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving the quality of life.
