The concept behind Le Lien was to create a space where women can reset their usual routines and emerge feeling more beautiful and confident. The design team carefully considered every aspect of the salon to ensure that it serves this purpose effectively.
The layout of Le Lien is divided into distinct areas using 45mm prisms arranged in a rhythmic pattern. These prisms separate the waiting area, cutting booth, and dressing/kids' spaces, providing privacy and a sense of security for customers. Mirrors are strategically placed on both sides of one piece of furniture, creating a symmetrical space that adds to the overall harmony of the salon.
One of the standout features of Le Lien is the circular cutting booth, which not only adds a touch of elegance but also creates a safe and intimate environment for customers. The use of prisms extends to the coloring booth and consulting table, tying the design elements together and creating a cohesive aesthetic.
The rawness of the prisms is intentionally left untouched, allowing customers to appreciate the natural beauty of the material. This choice not only adds a tactile element to the design but also ensures that the space will age gracefully over time.
The transformation of the first floor of the residency into Le Lien began in November 2016 and was completed in March 2017. The design team, led by TomonobuKawakami SpaceDesigns, collaborated with Kazuyo Murakami for the logo design, Hidehiko Inohara for the iron works, and Yuko Tada for the photography.
Le Lien's exceptional design has garnered recognition and acclaim. In 2019, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving the quality of life.
Le Lien is a testament to the power of thoughtful design in creating spaces that not only cater to practical needs but also evoke a sense of beauty and tranquility. With its unique layout, attention to detail, and commitment to customer comfort, Le Lien sets a new standard for private hair salons.
