CR City Crossing: An Award-Winning Design by WATERFROM and LSDCASA

A Unique Sales Center Design that Harmonizes Space, Light, and Material

In an era where design is increasingly becoming a crucial aspect of our lifestyle, WATERFROM and LSDCASA have created a unique sales center, CR City Crossing, that seamlessly blends space, light, and material. This design, which won the Platinum A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019, showcases the designers' innovative approach to interior design and their ability to create a sense of rhythm and change within a space.

The inspiration for CR City Crossing came from the designers' desire to make the installations in the space a "bridge" that uses the relationship between natural light and materials to connect space with matter. This resulted in an interior consisting of a series of open and closed continuums. Light and shadow, combined with changes in the seasons and the sky, present a sense of rhythm of change in space.

One of the unique properties of this design is its simplicity and closeness to nature. The material palette is mainly earthy colors, combining the warmth of wood, the luster of metal, and the rough texture of stone and concrete. This harmonious combination of materials not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the space but also complements its function.

The realization of this design was achieved through careful planning and execution. The designers installed a device in the 7-meter recess at the entrance that interprets the multiple feelings of nature in five forms and materials. At the top of the revolving corridor, they placed a pure white spiral that echoes the adjacent corridor, creating a visually appealing and functional space.

The negotiation area, which is the place where the natural light contact concentration of the whole space is the least, was another challenge for the designers. They addressed this by adding a transparent device that reconciles the pressure of the space and adds rhythm to enhance the spatial feeling.

The project, which started in March 2018 and was completed in October 2018 in Nanchang, is a testament to the designers' ability to overcome creative and technical challenges. As the area with the most soft parts, they chose to minimize the interference of the soft space on the space. The material is made of leather which is close to the overall color, and the curved sofa is divided into areas to meet the hard space language.

In conclusion, CR City Crossing is a remarkable example of innovative design that harmonizes space, light, and material. It is a testament to the creativity and technical prowess of WATERFROM and LSDCASA, and a worthy winner of the Platinum A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. This design not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the space but also contributes to societal wellbeing by advancing the boundaries of art, science, design, and technology.
