Peace and Presence Well-Being: A Nostalgic Journey to Relaxation

Lisa Winstanley's Award-Winning Branding Design Inspired by Nature and Nostalgia

Peace and Presence Well-Being, a UK-based holistic therapy brand, has been awarded the Silver A' Design Award for its unique branding that invokes a peaceful, calming state. The design, inspired by childhood memories of nature and riverbanks, was created by Lisa Winstanley.

The design's inspiration stemmed from the desire to induce a relaxing state for customers. The creative team, led by Winstanley, delved into the personal memories of the owners of Peace and Presence Well-Being. They found that nature and water were key reference points, along with a nostalgic fondness for times gone by. These elements were then incorporated into the brand aesthetic.

Peace and Presence Well-Being offers services such as reflexology, holistic massage, and reiki, aiming to rejuvenate the body, mind, and spirit. The brand's philosophy is to help clients find a state of stillness and inner peace by focusing on the present with a kind heart. This ethos is reflected in the brand's visual identity, which is designed to evoke feelings of relaxation, comfort, and bliss.

The brand logo is printed using a copper foil, or alternatively, a Pantone 876 metallic copper spot colour. The stationery is printed on a textured matte recycled stock, adding to the brand's eco-friendly ethos. The design process was human-centric, with the client involved at all stages. It was through in-depth personal interviews that the visual language was developed.

The client wanted the branding to appeal to a high-end clientele, and for customers to be keen to purchase and use brand merchandise. This included items such as tote bags, notepads, and select beauty products like massage oil, body lotion, and skincare. This was intended as a secondary advertising mechanism.

The project, which started in December 2018 and finished in June 2019, was carried out in Singapore and the UK. The design research involved creating mind maps and mood boards based on the themes of water and nature, aiming for a delicate, calming, and nostalgic aesthetic. Copper tones were inspired by ageing garden water fountains, and the flora and fauna of woodland streams inspired the illustrative aspect of the brand.

Peace and Presence Well-Being's award-winning design showcases the power of branding in creating a unique identity that resonates with customers. By drawing on personal memories and nature-inspired aesthetics, Lisa Winstanley has created a brand that not only stands out but also deeply connects with its audience.
