Inspired by the popular novel and film, Ready Player One, Hui Chi Ho Howard, the renowned stage designer, has created a captivating interior space that resembles a cybertecture and space capsule. The design incorporates stunning lighting effects, giving the stage a futuristic city vibe. To enhance the experience, a 360-degree revolving platform is installed on both sides, allowing participants to enter and exit through a turn around door. The main stage features a multi-level platform, accommodating over 100 performers.
What sets Good Night Show apart from other talent shows is its collaboration with various media outlets to foster new stars in Hong Kong. VIUtv has partnered with a number of industry experts to create an unprecedented large-scale "King Maker" project. The show aims to discover outstanding boys with a talent for acting and provide them with a platform to shine.
The stage design itself is a testament to innovation and creativity. Constructed with a combination of stainless steel, fireproofing plates, mat glass panels, and wooden platforms, it showcases the perfect blend of aesthetics and functionality. The gross built area spans an impressive 500 square meters, providing ample space for performances and interactions.
Operational-wise, Good Night Show follows a format similar to the popular South Korean TV series, Produce 101. After a round of interviews, 99 all-round performing boys were selected to compete for the title. The ultimate champion is determined by a combination of online voting (50%) and the judgment of a panel of professional judges (50%).
The design and construction of Good Night Show took a total of 9 months at Shaw Studios in Hong Kong. The team, led by Hui Chi Ho Howard, included talented individuals such as Nana Lee, Vincent Ma, Ashley Pang, and Michelle Wong.
Overcoming various challenges, the design team successfully built a 360-degree setting for TV production, ensuring that every angle is captured flawlessly. Additionally, they designed a multi-level platform to accommodate 100 contestants in the same area, providing a fair and dynamic competition environment.
Good Night Show has already gained recognition in the industry, receiving the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2020. This award is a testament to the stage design's practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial requirements. It is a well-deserved recognition for Hui Chi Ho Howard's exceptional talent and dedication.
With its futuristic design, innovative features, and commitment to nurturing new talent, Good Night Show is set to captivate audiences and launch the careers of aspiring actors in Hong Kong. It is a true testament to the power of design in creating unforgettable experiences.
