Vanke Fengxi Linquan: A Unique Ecological Residential Complex

Combining Nature and Urban Living in Qingdao

The Vanke Fengxi Linquan project by Tengyuan Design is a groundbreaking residential development that seamlessly integrates nature and urban living. With its innovative design and commitment to ecological sustainability, this project sets a new standard for residential complexes in Qingdao.

The inspiration for Vanke Fengxi Linquan comes from the unique characteristics of the land and the high altitude difference between the south and the north. The planning form of the project reflects the regional characteristics of Laoshan Mountain, while the design vision of "Fengxi Linquan, one continuous line" creates a harmonious blend of nature and architecture. This project also embodies the concept of an "ecological residential complex," making it the first of its kind in northern China.

What sets Vanke Fengxi Linquan apart from other residential projects is its focus on urban image and ecological living experience. Located in the core area of Licang, this development prioritizes the demands of customers who value both aesthetics and sustainability. It serves as a tribute to the city, showcasing its service function and charm.

The realization of Vanke Fengxi Linquan is made possible through innovative technology. The "nano thermal blanket" and "eggshell thermal insulation system" require only a thin layer of soil cover to protect the plant roots. This technology, combined with a nano water storage blanket, ensures the survival and health of the vegetation while conserving energy.

In terms of design specifications, each floor of Vanke Fengxi Linquan features two households connected by a fully bright elevator hall. The area of each household is approximately 200-220 square meters, providing ample space for comfortable living. Additionally, every third floor boasts a large-scale shared garden, creating a public space for rest and communication among the residents.

The successful implementation of Vanke Fengxi Linquan relies on careful consideration of the soil cover thickness and various techniques to ensure the survival of trees. The structural discipline incorporates measures such as upturned beams and increased reinforcing bars to increase the thickness of the soil cover. By studying the thickness of winter tundra in the Qingdao area, the designers optimize plant survival and contribute to energy conservation and emission reduction.

The Vanke Fengxi Linquan project began in November 2017 and was completed in December 2019 in Qingdao. Extensive research on urban construction and the drawbacks of high-rise residential buildings informed the design process. The desire for a private courtyard with trees and fruit trees led to the creation of this unique residential complex.

Despite the challenges posed by the low winter temperatures in Qingdao, the designers of Vanke Fengxi Linquan developed innovative solutions for cold protection, thermal insulation, and plant maintenance. New physical root blocking measures were adopted to ensure the health and longevity of the root system.

Vanke Fengxi Linquan aims to enhance the urban image of Qingdao and provide an unparalleled ecological living experience. The flexible and winding planning form, combined with technical guarantees such as the "nano thermal blanket" and "eggshell thermal insulation system," create an innovative ecological residential complex. This project also serves as a public ecological social platform for the neighborhood, fostering a sense of community and connection.

Vanke Fengxi Linquan is a testament to Tengyuan Design's commitment to pushing the boundaries of architecture and creating sustainable living spaces. With its unique design and focus on ecological principles, this project has been awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2020. This recognition highlights the project's outstanding creativity and contribution to quality of life improvements.
