Harmony: A Unique Residential Design by Yenchun Pan

Creating an Artistic Haven with Eastern and Western Influences

The Harmony residence, designed by Yenchun Pan, is a remarkable fusion of art, architecture, and design. Inspired by the painting spirit of Jeux Immateriels, this residential space seamlessly blends eastern and western styles to create an atmosphere of invisible energy. Incorporating sculptures and art collections into the interior, the designer has crafted a space that is both functional and aesthetically captivating.

One of the standout features of the Harmony residence is the unexpected entrance. As the elevator doors open, visitors are greeted by a remarkable painting inspired by Jeux Immateriels. This unconventional approach immediately transports people into another state of mind, setting the tone for the entire interior design.

As visitors walk along the path into the living area, they encounter a wavy canvas that covers the walls. This slim and graceful panel, constructed from marble stone, creates a sense of movement, as if the wind is gently passing through the space. The ceiling twists and turns, casting light and shadow in a freehand manner, adding depth and dimension to the design.

The realization of the Harmony design required meticulous attention to detail and advanced technology. A 3D model was used to precisely analyze the data, which was then digitally transferred for CNC calculation. Careful consideration was given to the selection of marble stone blocks, taking into account their pattern, hardness, weight, and appearance after cutting. Scale models were created to test the possibilities and discuss the cutting and installation processes. Each piece was numbered and gradually installed on the wall structure, ensuring a seamless integration of the design.

With a gross area of 377 square meters and a height of 3.5 meters, the Harmony residence offers a spacious and airy environment. The design team, led by Yenchun Pan, included Chairman CheWen Wang, Chief Designer YenChun Pan, and several other talented designers who contributed their expertise to bring this vision to life.

The interaction within the Harmony design is carefully curated to provide a unique experience. The horseshoe circulation plan breaks away from traditional housing layouts, offering unexpected perspectives and a sense of exploration. The remarkable painting at the entrance immediately immerses visitors in an art gallery-like atmosphere. Each space is connected by a concept of walking through a museum, with curved ceilings and walls creating a flow that enhances the viewing of artworks.

The Harmony residence, completed in Taiwan between February 2019 and February 2020, is a testament to the designer's research and creative vision. The irregularities in the walls and ceiling create ever-changing views of light and shadow, reminiscent of the concept of Jeux Immateriels. The space itself becomes a living expression of art, with surfaces reflecting rendering, brushstrokes, lines, shapes, and waves.

One of the main challenges in designing the Harmony residence was balancing the art collections with the overall rhythm of the space. Yenchun Pan skillfully integrated each detail, line, and wave into the overall composition, ensuring that every element enhances the value of the collections while maintaining functionality. Focal points were created to draw attention, while other areas were designed to provide a calm and serene ambiance.

The Harmony residence is a testament to the power of art, architecture, and design to create a harmonious and inspiring living environment. Yenchun Pan's innovative approach, blending eastern and western influences, has resulted in a truly unique and captivating space. This exceptional design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category, further solidifying its status as a masterpiece of contemporary design.
