Meixi Boutique

Hotel Design by Xin Lv

This project takes inspiration from the concept of the "glacier century" and incorporates it into the space design. Through careful color coordination and material selection, Meixi Boutique creates an elegant, comfortable, and interesting space. The interlocking art forms used in the design continue the "glacier century" theme, raising awareness about natural destruction and promoting energy conservation and emission reduction.

The design of Meixi Boutique utilizes materials such as marble, wood finish, adhesive glass, wallpaper, wall cloth, and latex paint. These elements come together to create a visually stunning and environmentally conscious space.

The main background of the lobby features a unique design language of triangle two-way painting. By merging two patterns into one picture and using silk cloth material for spray-painting, the design presents a glacier pattern on the left side and an urban pattern on the right side. This visual transformation embodies the design theme of "we, a city to the future, a return to the Ice Age" and offers a new form of expression.

Meixi Boutique covers an area of 2366 square meters and required careful planning and execution. The design team, led by Xin Lv and including Wei Liu, worked on concept planning, space planning, expansion design, deepening construction drawings, and field execution.

This hotel design is located in Harbin, China, and the project was completed in May 2019. The design process began in December 2018, with extensive research on environmental protection and the aim to prevent the next ice age.

One of the main challenges faced during the design process was the original building's layout, which was not suitable for a hotel. The team had to demolish the original staircase and add new stairs and elevators in a more functional location. Additionally, an external steel structure fire evacuation staircase was added to ensure safety.

The Meixi Boutique design serves as a reminder of the relationship between humans and nature and the importance of following the laws of nature. By incorporating elements of art, innovation, and regional culture, this design creates a space that not only provides a better way of life but also contributes to the preservation of our environment.

This design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. The award recognizes the outstanding creativity and resourcefulness of Meixi Boutique, which incorporates best practices in art, science, design, and technology. This design contributes to the improvement of quality of life and makes the world a better place.
