A Subtle American-style Residence Designed for Comfort and Health

The homeowner's request was to transform their four-room home into a cozy and elegant space suitable for two people. The design team not only met this requirement but also went above and beyond to ensure the well-being of the entire family.

One of the standout features of this design is the implementation of an advanced air circulation system. This innovative technology maintains a certain level of air quality within the residence, promoting a healthier living environment.

Another unique aspect of the Mountain Rock Comfy Home is the use of low-formaldehyde materials throughout the entire indoor space. While the F3 class of low-formaldehyde materials meets the standards in Asia, the designer opted for the F1 class of low-formaldehyde wood materials. This choice significantly reduces formaldehyde emissions, creating a safer and healthier home for the family.

The precise arrangement of space and traffic flow in the new layout of the home is another notable feature. By dividing one room into two areas, the kitchen and dressing room were expanded, resulting in a more functional and spacious living space. The removal of redundant spaces further enhances the overall comfort and coziness of the interior.

Throughout the design process, the team at Xu Xu Interior Design Co., Ltd. paid meticulous attention to detail. They strictly examined the adhesives used in the wood veneers, ensuring they were also low in formaldehyde. Additionally, eco-friendly latex paints were chosen, including a special mineral paint for the TV wall that can decompose formaldehyde. These eco-friendly paints not only contribute to the aesthetics of the home but also promote a healthier and more sustainable living environment.

The Mountain Rock Comfy Home project, encompassing 133 square meters, was completed in November 2019 in Taichung, Taiwan. The design team faced various challenges, including finding the right balance between using good building materials and minimizing environmental impact. Their commitment to preserving nature and creating a sustainable relationship between people and the environment is evident in every aspect of the design.

The Mountain Rock Comfy Home, designed by Xu Xu Interior Design Co., Ltd., has been recognized for its excellence. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious accolade is a testament to the design's ingenuity, resourcefulness, and contribution to improving the quality of life.
