LH Shanghai: A Feminine and Artistic Office Space

Creating a Home-Gallery Fusion

Based on the vision of the company's chairman, Guoqiang Feng and Yan Chen designed LH Shanghai to be a unique office space that reflects her personality and love for art. By combining the elements of "a home" and "a gallery," the designers aimed to create a space that is both elegant and relaxed, breaking the stereotypes of traditional investment companies.

This newly established investment company wanted to create an office environment that deviated from the typical serious and formal atmosphere associated with the industry. The designers sought to design a space that exuded friendliness, casualness, and comfort, while still maintaining an artistic and sophisticated ambiance.

The designers incorporated several unique features and elements to achieve their vision. The office space showcases five photographs from the owner's personal art collection, created by the award-winning photographer Yicheng Feng. These concise and modern photographs perfectly complement the overall temperament of the space.

The lighting fixtures, provided by Flos, are pure and simplistic, adding to the overall aesthetic appeal. The furniture, sourced from HAY, is comfortable, simple, and homely, creating a welcoming atmosphere for both clients and employees. To enhance the visual appeal and ease of maintenance, PVC woven carpets from BOLON were selected, with cherry blossom colors specifically chosen to cater to the company's Japanese clientele.

Despite the limited area of the office, spanning 328 square meters, the designers made strategic decisions to maximize the available space. Air-conditioning pipelines were cleverly placed above the corridor to ensure sufficient floor height in the rooms. Glass walls were incorporated to create an open and spacious feel, while a hidden light strip in the ceiling of the corridor provides a clean and bright ambiance.

The layout of the office, which is long and narrow, was transformed into a chain-like design, connecting the different sections of the office. Each room serves as a key to solving a problem, with offices for individuals who work closely together located in close proximity. The reception area, positioned at the center of the chain, allows easy access to all rooms. Additionally, a staff lounge area was cleverly set up in a fire exit area, providing a space for relaxation.

The LH Shanghai project, located in Shanghai, began in July 2019 and was completed in January 2020. The designers faced the challenge of designing within the constraints of Feng Shui principles and the limited space. However, through meticulous planning and a lightweight design style, they were able to meet the requirements and create a clutter-free and harmonious office environment.

This exceptional design project, created by Guoqiang Feng and Yan Chen, was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious award recognizes LH Shanghai for its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach, which integrates industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, ultimately contributing to a better world.
