Carla Filomeno Tejeda's DeliPeruano Signature: A Masterpiece in Packaging Design

Unveiling the Unique and Desirable DeliPeruano Signature: A Premium Pisco Pairing Kit

Carla Filomeno Tejeda's DeliPeruano Signature, a premium pisco pairing kit, is a testament to the power of minimalist design and traditional craftsmanship. This award-winning design combines elegance, tradition, and sensory experience to create a product that stands out in the Peruvian liquor market.

Tejeda's inspiration for the DeliPeruano Signature came from the need to create a product that was not only unique but also desirable. The designer took inspiration from old Peruvian stamps, liquor labels, and botanical illustrations to create a minimalist and elegant design that is printed directly on the bottle, rather than using a common paper label. This approach allows the product's attributes to be showcased, while the use of handcrafted and recycled materials adds a sensory experience to the product.

The DeliPeruano Signature is a limited edition kit made with selected artisanal botanicals. Its package design combines a minimalist and traditional style to convey its value and uniqueness. The use of typography, black and silver ink printed directly on the bottles, and small details such as textures and fine finishes, denote the purity and high quality of the products. The graphic details, antique-style illustrations, and rustic materials refer to the tradition and craftsmanship of this Peruvian liqueur.

The packaging design was realized using different materials such as glass bottles with cork lids, a handcrafted box made with reused wood, kraft paper, adhesive paper, and jute rope. Different printing systems were used for the production, including direct screen printing on the bottles, screen printing on wood on the outside and inside of the box, and offset printing for the complementary materials such as labels, hangtag, and leaflet.

The kit’s box comes with a hanging tag on the outside as an introduction to the product. Once opened, the user finds an elegant black envelope containing a welcome brochure. Next is the Pisco bottle with a minimal printed design that allows the purity and transparency of the liquor to be seen. Its white back label contains detailed information about the product. In a closed compartment are the botanical jars with their name printed on them. On the wooden lid, one can see the logo and the edition number.

The project was started in January and finished in April 2018, in Lima, Peru. The most challenging part of this project was the production possibilities for the results desired, the materials, and the small number of editions. It required an uncommon type of production for this type of goods and it was difficult to get a quality silkscreen with an artisan producer and with a graphic design of such small dimensions. However, through extensive research, testing, and design adjustments, these challenges were overcome.

The DeliPeruano Signature was awarded Silver in A' Limited Edition and Custom Design Award in 2021. The award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
