Deer Academy: A Harmonious Blend of Tradition and Technology

Qi Studio's Innovative Design Transforms Office Space into a Tranquil, Tech-Infused Academy

Qi Studio drew inspiration from the rich academic heritage of the Qingshan Lake District and the historic scholars it has produced. The design aims to incorporate the humanistic essence of the local Bailudong Academy with the use of intelligent technology, creating a cultural and creative reading space that serves as a serene academy within a bustling city.

What sets the Deer Academy apart is its innovative design conception. Breaking away from traditional space forms, Qi Studio has introduced the concept of an "atmosphere library". This design approach, combined with the unique humanistic temperament of the local academy, creates a tranquil and inviting indoor atmosphere. The commercial space is transformed into an ideal place for relaxation and habitation, with the application of intelligent technology adding a lively element to the overall academy atmosphere.

The realization of this design involves a harmonious blend of Oriental philosophical beauty and new-age intelligent technology. The design methods used include contrast, openness, flow, and mutual dissolution in space shaping and details, resulting in a space that is harmonious yet distinct, and open yet intimate. The project covers a total of 2000 square meters.

The design team, consisting of Xiaofeng Qi, Fangbo He, Huihui Chen, Quan Wang, Jue Feng, Xin Wang, and Zhuofen Yu, faced the challenge of incorporating intelligent technology into the academy, breaking away from traditional modes. They successfully achieved this with an innovative and accepting approach, creating a flexible and interesting spatial sequence.

The Deer Academy project began in October 2019 in Ningbo and was completed in March 2020. The underlying research for the design was based on the belief that life should not only have the rhythm of the city but also enjoy the beauty of nature. The academy's existence is to help individuals expand their dimensions and enrich themselves, regardless of how developed the internet becomes. People always need a place to find the feeling of landing.

Qi Studio's innovative design approach, the unique "atmosphere library" concept, and the successful integration of traditional aesthetics with modern technology have resulted in an office space that is not just functional but also a place of tranquility and relaxation. The Deer Academy is a testament to the possibilities of design when tradition meets innovation.
