Reviving Tradition: Kris Lin's Innovative "Sequence" Showroom

Blending Modern Design with Traditional Elements in a Community Space

Renowned designer Kris Lin brings traditional Chinese elements into the modern era with his award-winning "Sequence" showroom. This innovative design serves as a community development display and sales space, providing a unique platform for communication and interaction.

Located in Chongqing, China, the "Sequence" project is a testament to Lin's ability to interpret classical elements in a contemporary way. The design draws inspiration from traditional Chinese screens, conveying historical and cultural details with an introverted silence that is characteristic of Chinese tradition. In this compact space, Lin successfully displays the elegant artistic conception of a court gallery.

The showroom is designed to showcase the future development of the community. It features a lobby reception area on the first floor and an exhibition and water bar conversation area on the second floor. The design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional, catering to the needs of different types of usage.

One of the unique features of the project is the arrangement of screens from the lobby to the elevator hall. They are arranged regularly, symmetrically, and evenly along the corridor direction, forming a pathway that guides people into the next space. This visual guidance effectively extends the space, enhancing the overall experience of the showroom.

The project began in April 2019 and was completed in January 2020. It was exhibited in Chongqing in the same month. The design was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, a testament to its remarkable design and innovation. This award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill.

In conclusion, Kris Lin's "Sequence" project is a perfect blend of tradition and modernity, providing a unique space for community development and interaction. It is a testament to Lin's ability to interpret and translate traditional elements into modern design, creating a space that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.
