RingCentral Message Video Phone: A Fusion of Real, Digital, and Abstract Worlds

Not Real's Award-Winning Design Brings Business Communications to Life

Not Real, the renowned design team, has created an innovative motion design for RingCentral, the leading business communications platform. The design, which won the prestigious Silver A' Design Award, is a unique blend of real, digital, and abstract elements, showcasing the platform's extensive capabilities.

The RingCentral Message Video Phone project was inspired by the need to communicate the user's perspective, the product itself, and its noteworthy features. The design team decided to break these elements into three distinct worlds: Real, Digital, and Abstract. The video showcases a team interacting through the app, creating a product, and highlighting the platform's broad and comprehensive nature.

What sets this design apart is its unique properties. As the #1 business communications platform, RingCentral brings everyone and everything together to get work done. Not Real developed an overview video to showcase everything this powerful app can do, offering viewers a glimpse of the product's breadth and completeness. The design was realized using full CGI, with C4D used for all 3D design and animation, Redshift as the render engine, and all compositing done in Adobe After Effects.

The design project, which kicked off on May 29th, 2020, and was delivered on August 4th, 2020, was a commissioned project. RingCentral approached Not Real with the need to create a series of videos with a renewed, fresh, and contemporary style, showing their product as high-end. The design team conducted extensive research to find general visual references of the mood, layouts, materials, lighting, and storytelling.

One of the challenges the design team faced was communicating the user's point of view, the app itself, and its features, along with general concepts about making everyday tasks easier and smarter with the use of this app. The user was represented subjectively through hyper-realistic environments, the product through the app's interface, and the concepts through more abstract scenes.

In conclusion, Not Real's design for the RingCentral Message Video Phone is a testament to the team's ability to blend real, digital, and abstract elements to create a compelling and innovative design. The team's dedication to their craft and their ability to overcome challenges has resulted in a design that not only meets the client's needs but also pushes the boundaries of what is possible in motion design.
