Episode: Redefining Residential Spaces with User-Centered Design

Creating a Flexible and Engaging Living Experience

Episode is not only a living space but also a shared residential platform made with customers’ experiences and values. Plus X develops the design by focusing on a design that can be flexibly changed and applied rather than a fixed design, on a touchpoint to express the characteristics of the brand.

Many residential space brands provide a supplier-centered brand identity. However, Episode is a user-centered design with a major difference in communication with customers.

Episode stands out with its unique brand experiences and user-centered approach. The design team at Plus X has carefully crafted a brand value platform that defines the essence of the brand as "Life Story" - a combination of story and storage. The core brand value revolves around creating a living space that fosters a sense of community and emotional connection.

The visual identity and brand design elements of Episode have been thoughtfully developed to reflect the brand's essence. The square in the Episode logo represents a space where diverse stories and harmonization are contained. This design element can flexibly expand to online and offline contacts, ensuring a consistent brand experience across different touchpoints.

Through brand experience design, Episode utilizes key visual assets such as logos, colors, typefaces, and key visuals in the right place to provide unique and engaging brand experiences. The design motif developed for Episode has been applied to resident cards, room numbers, and other elements, allowing customers to personalize their own episodes.

The design team at Plus X has overcome various challenges to create a design that breaks away from the concept of traditional residence and suggests a new dwelling place. Modern residential spaces are no longer just resting places but also spaces for self-expression and the embodiment of one's values and tastes. Episode aims to capture the essence of a diversified lifestyle, where people come together to create new stories.

The Episode project took place over a span of four months in Seoul, South Korea. During this time, extensive research was conducted to analyze existing space share services and find ways to create synergy through customer members coming together. The design team also focused on visually connecting customer experience elements to enhance the overall brand experience.

Episode's innovative design and user-centered approach have been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2021. This award honors outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that authenticate experience and resourcefulness. Plus X's design for Episode showcases strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life and making the world a better place.
