Designing a Political TV Show with Impact

Wa Lana Waqfa (let us pause) is a daily political show that focuses on current affairs news. It sheds light on news events and analyzes them in depth. The design team, led by Rami Yaser Hosni, undertook a full rebrand of the show, including the opener, studio, in-show graphics, and promo, to truly reflect the concept of the show.

The concept of the Wa Lana Waqfa brand revolves around the idea of "highlighting" and "stopping" at a certain subject. The first letter in the show's name sheds light into the first letter of the second word, conveying the message of highlighting and exploring. The extended line at the end of the second word represents a pause, symbolizing the name of the show itself.

The package includes various elements such as the studio (videowall), full frame designs, sting, wipe, opener, and closer. The opener intentionally ends without revealing the name of the show, instead, the name appears in the wall inside the studio, seamlessly integrating it as a continuous part of the show.

The design team's main shapes are all revolved around the spotlight, utilizing diagonal shapes to create a visually engaging and dynamic aesthetic.

What sets the Wa Lana Waqfa brand apart is its ability to be easily updated on a daily basis, based on the content of each episode. The design team has created a system where the visuals can be updated within 30 minutes, while still maintaining the essence of the brand. This ensures that the show remains fresh and relevant, while also providing a consistent visual identity.

The Wa Lana Waqfa brand has received recognition for its excellence in design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Advertising, Marketing, and Communication Design category in 2021. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The brand is respected for integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings, and contributing to a better world.
