The Sense of Peace residential design by Derson Chiu offers a unique and tranquil living experience. The designer has created a space characterized by upright and four straight lines, complemented by gentle and neat colors. The use of special paint on the TV semi-wall transforms the open study room into a transparent and bright space, seamlessly connected to the living room through a double-load corridor.
One of the standout features of this design is the use of a glass window at the end of the corridor, separating the bedrooms and extending the views and natural light. To enhance the sense of spaciousness, the designer has replaced traditional doors with sliding doors or slanted ones, creating a more commodious visual experience.
The realization of the Sense of Peace design incorporates a combination of techniques and materials. The entrance sets the tone with elegant carpentry work painted in grey, black, and dark brown, creating an atmosphere of understated sophistication. The wall at the end of the view is painted in a special way, integrating nature imagery such as clouds and landscapes, contrasting with the sharp edges and corners of the marble. This paint texture evokes a sense of gentle jade, adding a touch of tranquility to the space. The wall behind the sofa is varnished in grey, further enhancing the overall concept of serenity.
To achieve a simple and elegant aesthetic, unnecessary gadgets have been eliminated, and sliding doors have been used to shape the rooms with a feeling of geometric form. The connection between different areas has been carefully arranged, allowing for seamless flow and interaction. From the kitchen island, one can enjoy views of the restaurant, the open study, and the living room, creating a harmonious and functional space. The color palette and decorations throughout the design maintain a sense of simplicity and elegance, with kitchenware, bookshelves, and sliding doors all following the clean lines and geometric shapes.
The Sense of Peace design project was completed in March 2020 in Zhubei Riparian, Hsinchu County, Taiwan. Extensive research and planning were conducted to ensure the transparency and consistency of the space. The open layout of the study room, connected to the living room through the double-load corridor, allows for an extension of the ambiance and preserves the scenic views from the outside. The design team, led by Derson Chiu, overcame various creative, technical, and research challenges to bring this vision to life.
The Sense of Peace design has been recognized for its excellence and innovation. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This prestigious award acknowledges well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The design is respected for integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings, contributing to a better world.
