Viti: A Multifunctional Stand for Video Monitors

Combining Minimalism, Functionality, and Aesthetics

Designed by Iga Wlodkowska

Introducing Viti, a revolutionary multifunctional stand designed to address the lack of a system for installing video monitors on stage. Created by renowned designer Iga Wlodkowska, Viti combines ergonomic design, organic form, minimalism, functionality, intuitiveness, safety, and durability, drawing inspiration from the principles of Bauhaus and years of experience in the industry.

What sets Viti apart is its unique blend of form and function. The stand's slim and harmonious shape, achieved through the use of the golden ratio and mathematical concepts, provides exceptional structural stability. Additionally, the stand features light-absorbing paint, reducing reflections by an impressive 95 percent.

The realization of the Viti stand involves cutting 3D-designed models from structural steel sheets using CNC laser technology. These models are then processed with a bender to create an acute angle. The sandblasting process prepares the elements for a certified powder paint with a fine structure, ensuring durability. The stands are assembled by combining the components, resulting in a finished product.

With dimensions of 460 mm x 320 mm x 19 mm and weighing only 3 kg, Viti is designed to be lightweight and portable without compromising on stability. Its versatility allows for various applications, such as a stage view, VJ or performer stand, a stand for touch, display, or gaming monitors, or even a table or floor video element.

The functionality of the Viti stand is intuitive and user-friendly. The device is bolted to the mounting plate (Vesa), which is then inserted onto the shoulder of the stand. The height can be adjusted by selecting one of the openings on the arm and twisting the locking knob. The Loco model also offers the ability to change the shoulder angle from 0 to 60 degrees, providing even more flexibility. The stands can be used individually or as part of a multimedia installation.

The Viti project, which started in June 2020 in Warsaw, was completed in May 2021. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted to achieve a durable coating with a minimum degree of gloss on the steel surface. Techniques for processing rounded surfaces were refined, and the issue of light reflection was successfully eliminated, ensuring the stands are durable and hardly visible on camera.

Despite the creative and technical challenges faced during production, the Viti stands were brought to life with their unique shape and rounded edges. Finding subcontractors who could meet the designer's requirements was a significant hurdle, but it was overcome to deliver a high-quality product.

Viti stands are a testament to the power of organic design principles and the integration of functionality and aesthetics. With their deep matte black color and surface texture, they diffuse light and reduce reflections, ensuring an optimal viewing experience. The rounded edges and ergonomic handle make them easy to carry, even with the screen mounted, while the security measures provide peace of mind.

The Viti stands, created by Iga Wlodkowska, have garnered recognition and acclaim. They were awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Video and Broadcasting Equipment Design category in 2022. This prestigious award recognizes the stand's well-designed, practical, and innovative features that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Viti stands have proven to be a valuable addition to the world of video monitor installation, contributing to a better and more visually appealing experience.
