Reviving Orchestra Brand with Dynamic Identity: Can You See the Music?

Brand Bar Communications Wins Silver A' Design Award for Innovative Musical Language

In a unique blend of music and design, Brand Bar Communications has created a dynamic identity for the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, allowing music to be visualized, and earning them a Silver A' Design Award.

The concept, titled "Can You See the Music?", was inspired by the orchestra’s repertoire. The design team transformed the traditional five-line sheet music system into a circular format, creating a brand-new musical language and design concept. This innovative approach allows any piece of music to be notated and visualized within a set of guidelines defined by the designers, making music visible to anyone.

What sets this design apart is its dynamic nature. Each member of the orchestra can create their own personalized logo, adding a unique touch to the brand identity. The audience also becomes an active part of the identity renewal process, thanks to a custom-developed logo design application.

The new identity was launched through a complete redesign of the orchestra’s website and other digital channels, promoted by the “Can You See the Music?” outdoor and online campaigns. The communication concept emphasized that music can now be heard, felt, and seen. Tactical PR activities further enhanced awareness for the logo generator app.

The project was realized in Hungary and published in February. The team behind this innovative design includes Art Director László Herbszt, Creative Directors Attila Simon and Gyula Halász, Music Consultant Dániel Zelenák, Senior Designer Bianka Földi, Project Managers Boglárka Izsáki and Kata Fodor, and Lead Developer Péter Fülöp from Datalytix Solutions.

The design was recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design category in 2022. The award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.

With "Can You See the Music?", Brand Bar Communications has truly redefined the intersection of music and design, creating a dynamic identity that engages both orchestra members and audiences in a unique visual experience of music.
