Land of Rocks: A Harmonious Blend of Art, Architecture, and Sintered Stone

Exhibition Space by Weixian He and Baoyang Wei Wins Prestigious A' Design Award

Exploring the intricate relationship between sintered stone, habitation, and city, designers Weixian He and Baoyang Wei have created an immersive exhibition space that is both visually stunning and emotionally resonant. The Land of Rocks, a temporary exhibition for the 2020 Guangzhou Design Week, is a testament to the flexibility and beauty of sintered stone, and its potential to transform urban architecture.

The Land of Rocks is not just an exhibition space, but an embodiment of the brand's essence - "custom, high-end, professional". The designers have ingeniously integrated the brand's main products into the space, using a variety of aesthetic forms to create an immersive experience. The goal is not just to showcase the products, but to attract the attention of designers and professionals, facilitating brand communication and appreciation.

One of the unique features of the design is its semi-open structure. The designers have used special arrangements and cut crevices to create a sense of openness and interaction. From the outside, one can appreciate the varied patterns of the sintered stone, while from the inside, one can observe the movement and curiosity of the visitors. This dynamic interaction between the space and its occupants adds an extra layer of depth to the exhibition.

The centerpiece of the exhibition is the "Rock flower" structure. With its graceful curves extending upwards, it captures the flexibility and suppleness of sintered stone. When viewed from the bench below, the structure appears to glow subtly, creating a dreamlike atmosphere.

The design of The Land of Rocks was a challenging task. The designers had to express the complex relationship between sintered stone, habitation, and city through a limited space in a limited time period. They had to consider how to make visitors feel and experience this relationship, rather than just see it. The result is a space that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also emotionally engaging.

The Land of Rocks was constructed and completed in Guangzhou in December 2020. It was exhibited at Pavilion 2C06, Hall 2, Guangzhou Design Week from December 3 to December 6, 2020. The project was awarded Silver in A' Trade Show Architecture, Interiors, and Exhibit Design Award in 2023, a testament to the designers' creativity and innovation.
