Archizeit Studio: A Renovation Project Showcasing Design Innovation

Transforming an Old House into a Dynamic Office Space

Archizeit Studio, led by architect Alexandru Zingaliuc, has successfully renovated an old one-level house in the heart of Chisinau, Moldova, into a vibrant and innovative office space. This project serves as a testament to the firm's design prowess and showcases their unique approach to architecture and interior design.

The renovation of Archizeit Studio's office was not driven by a specific inspiration but rather by a desire to create a laboratory for design experiments. The result is an eclectic mix of building materials and techniques, showcasing the firm's versatility and creativity. From stamped concrete to decorative metal panels, river stones, and brick, the walls of the office are a testament to the multitude of manual finishing techniques employed.

One of the defining aspects of the project is the use of natural materials, either processed by hand or recycled. To expand the office space, a metal container was added as an extension. The existing building's facade was covered with corten steel plates, creating a striking visual contrast. Additionally, a timber cladding screen was installed, providing a new backdrop for the activities taking place in front of it. The combination of wood, corten steel, exposed concrete, and metal creates a dynamic and visually captivating composition.

The renovation process involved reconfiguring both the interior space and the exterior appearance of the existing building. The architects carefully analyzed the existing structure to determine what could be salvaged and what needed to be demolished and rebuilt. The result is a cohesive and functional space that addresses the previous fragmentation and lack of communication between rooms.

Archizeit Studio's office is designed to interact with the surrounding environment. Large windows make the interior visible to passersby, inviting them to explore the space. The flow within the building is carefully distributed, with separate areas for guests, workspaces, and bathrooms, minimizing the intersection of flows and ensuring a seamless experience for visitors.

The renovation project, which began in 2016 and was completed in 2018, showcases the firm's dedication to research and innovation. The architects sought solutions to enhance the exterior of the building through the careful selection of materials and structural systems. The result is a space that not only serves as a functional office but also stands as a testament to the firm's design philosophy.

Archizeit Studio's renovation project has received recognition for its exceptional design. The project was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2022, a prestigious accolade that celebrates well-designed, practical, and innovative creations. The office space serves as an open invitation for potential customers to experience the firm's work firsthand and witness the transformative power of design.
