Loving Hug: A Cozy Residential House Embracing Scandinavian Elegance

Design by Tsung Yu Lu

The Loving Hug residential house, designed by Tsung Yu Lu, is a testament to the power of incorporating brand spirit into interior design. Inspired by the founder of the skincare brand "Boyfriend," the space exudes a sense of love and care, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The design of Loving Hug revolves around the concept of a lover's embrace, symbolized by the numerous curvy elements throughout the space. The incorporation of the company's logo and brand spirit adds a unique touch to the design, creating a seamless integration of the brand's identity and the homeowner's personal style.

Light wood-vein tones dominate the design, creating a natural and refreshing ambiance. The use of an elegant Scandinavian color palette further enhances the overall aesthetic, evoking a sense of calm and tranquility. The space is carefully curated to make one feel as though they are being cared for and pampered, much like being enveloped in a loving hug.

One of the standout features of Loving Hug is the studiostudy, which is defined by a glass sliding door. The white keynote tone of the space creates a clean and neat atmosphere, allowing the brand's logo to transform the wall. The circular and yellow elements symbolize a rising sun, adding vibrancy and energy to the design.

To address the feng-shui concern of chuantangsha, a direct view from the entryway to the back of the residence, a screen and a TV wall were tactfully incorporated. These elements not only serve a functional purpose but also create visual division, gently obstructing the direct sightline from the entrance. The upper part of the TV wall features glass, allowing natural light to permeate into the entryway, creating a welcoming and bright space.

The living room of Loving Hug is characterized by light tones, with a feature wall that incorporates a touch of daybreak green. This injection of color adds life and a poetic feel to the space, aligning with the cozy, clean, and energetic elements of the homeowner's brand. The master bedroom boasts large French windows that flood the space with natural light. The coherent white tone and light wood-vein accents create a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The guest room features flexible functionality, with a folded mattress and bedding stored below an elevated couch, maximizing the use of space.

The Loving Hug project was completed in December 2021 in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. The design showcases meticulous attention to detail, integrating beams, pillars, and wiring seamlessly. Eco-friendly building materials, non-toxic paint, and energy-saving LED lighting were thoughtfully selected to create a healthy and environmentally friendly residence. The result is a space that encompasses a smooth flow, ample storage, and a cozy visual feel, like a loving hug that envelops the family living there.

The creative and technical challenges of Loving Hug were met with innovative solutions. The dining room, located around the corner from the entryway, posed a height constraint due to a large RC beam. To alleviate the sense of oppression and create a visually elevated space, the designer applied varied colors to the ceiling, reducing the feeling of crampedness. The use of smooth light wood-vein curves in the cabinetry further enhances the embrace theme, conveying a gentle and refreshing vibe.

The Loving Hug design has been recognized for its excellence and innovation. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023. This prestigious award acknowledges the well-designed, practical, and innovative nature of the project, meeting professional and industrial requirements. The design is respected for its integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
