Immersive Soundscapes: Kutuko Studio's Award-Winning Campaign for Beoplay Portal

Revolutionizing Advertising with 3D Artistry and Gamification

Unveiling the captivating journey of Kutuko Studio's innovative advertising campaign for Bang & Olufsen's Beoplay Portal headphones, which won the Platinum A' Design Award in 2023.

When Bang & Olufsen sought to launch a campaign for its Beoplay Portal headphones, they turned to the creative prowess of Kutuko Studio. The design team was tasked with creating an advertising campaign that would not only have a significant visual and sound impact but also engage the audience through gamification. The result was a series of five different scenarios, each alluding to key categories within the video game industry, and a competition to locate hidden objects within each frame.

The campaign, titled "Sound that shapes your world," required Kutuko Studio to delve into a variety of references and inspirations, which they accumulated on moodboards on the Milanote website. The team then began sketching the scene composition in Photoshop before transitioning to 3D using Cinema 4D software and the Redshift rendering engine. The campaign's unique properties were further enhanced with plugins such as Turbulence FD for smoke simulations and Forester for the creation of trees.

The technical specifications of the campaign were meticulously planned to ensure optimal viewing across various digital platforms. The video project was created in a standard full HD 1920X1080px format with optimized compression for social media and digital media such as web or e-commerce. To make the content more consumable and adaptable, the team worked specifically on 16:9, 1:1, and 9:16 proportions.

The production, which took place in Madrid from February to May 2022, was a collaborative effort involving modellers, motion graphers, creative directors, art directors, riggers, and character designers. The team was tasked with managing the production phases of creativity, art, storytelling, bso, realization, modelling, texturing, lighting, postproduction, and sfx, through an internal platform for the correct monitoring of the project.

Despite the creative demands and high-quality standards required for the project, Kutuko Studio successfully delivered a striking and powerful piece. The campaign not only promoted the Beoplay Portal headphones but also elevated the experience of using them. The design was recognized with the Platinum A' Design Award in 2023, an accolade that acknowledges world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs that contribute to societal wellbeing.
