Promenade is not just another residential building; it is a pioneering project that focuses on encouraging the relationship between citizens and nature. The main objective of the design is to enhance residents' health and well-being by incorporating nature as an essential element of the architectural language. Inspired by the beauty and serenity of the natural world, Promenade embraces a biophilic design that prioritizes greenery and the sensory experience it brings.
The architecture of Promenade is defined by the elegant combination of glazing, black aluminum, and wood. The building features floor-to-ceiling glass facades that allow ample natural light to flood the interior spaces, creating a seamless connection between the indoors and outdoors. The use of glass not only enhances the transparency and openness of the building but also symbolizes the essence of Promenade.
However, it is the integration of greenery that truly sets Promenade apart. The building is adorned with native plants and trees, which are housed in terraces with pots that form an integral part of the facade. This unique feature not only adds a touch of natural beauty to the building but also contributes to the overall well-being of the residents. The presence of greenery promotes a healthier environment, improves air quality, and provides a sense of tranquility.
With its 10-story structure, Promenade offers 54 apartments, ranging from one to three bedrooms. Each apartment comes with a private green terrace, allowing residents to have their own personal green space. Additionally, the rooftop terrace features a community garden and several vegetable gardens, encouraging residents to grow their own food and adopt a healthier lifestyle.
Promenade goes beyond just providing a living space; it fosters a sense of community and social interaction. The garden and rooftop terrace serve as dynamic spaces where residents can come together, socialize, and enjoy the beauty of nature. These spaces are designed to inspire and create a connection between individuals, promoting a sense of belonging and well-being.
The construction of Promenade began in 2022 and is expected to be completed in 2024. The project is a result of extensive research conducted by Natalia Ottonello and her team, focusing on the ways in which architecture can enhance human health and well-being. The design reflects their commitment to creating spaces that prioritize physical, mental, and social health.
Promenade has already gained recognition for its innovative design. In 2023, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category. This prestigious award acknowledges the outstanding creativity and ingenuity of the design, which incorporates best practices in art, science, design, and technology.
Promenade is not just a residential building; it is a testament to the potential of architecture to improve the quality of life for individuals and communities. By seamlessly integrating humans, architecture, nature, and the city, Promenade sets a new design paradigm for Punta del Este, where greenery and living nature are essential elements of the urban landscape.
