Mugo: A Fresh Twist on Bottled Soda Labels

Unleashing Creativity with Tanya Dunaeva's Typographic Design

The classic labels of alcoholic beverages inspired Tanya Dunaeva to create a fresh mixed design.

Mugo, a new brand in the soft carbonated drinks market, is making waves with its innovative bottled soda labels. Designed by the talented Tanya Dunaeva, these labels redefine the traditional concept of beverage packaging. With a focus on typographic design, Mugo stands out from the crowd, offering a unique and remarkable visual experience.

The Mugo label line consists of four types of drinks, each with its own distinct flavor profile. Mocktails are carbonated soft drinks with exquisite taste compositions, while lemonades combine various juices with mineral water and vitamins. For those seeking a bolder flavor, the spicy syrups offer original flavors based on spices. And for an invigorating boost, the energy-tonics are the perfect combination of vitamins and minerals.

What sets Mugo apart is its typographic design approach. Drawing inspiration from the classic labels of traditional expensive alcoholic beverages, Dunaeva reimagines the concept with a modern twist. By simplifying the elements and creating a multi-layered and contrasting design structure, the Mugo labels exude individuality and sophistication.

The design process involved meticulous research and analysis of the classic label scheme. By identifying the most frequently repeated elements, Dunaeva was able to create a construction scheme that could be easily scaled to the entire line. The result is a visually stunning label that captures attention and leaves a lasting impression.

One of the challenges faced during the design process was creating a label that was truly unique and non-typical. Dunaeva's solution was to incorporate multi-layer typography, combining different fonts and impressions. This mix of elements adds depth and complexity to the design, further enhancing its individuality.

With a bottle height of 15cm, the Mugo label features a front label measuring 8x5cm and a back label measuring 8x1cm. The labels are printed using a technique that enhances both visual and tactile sensations, creating a product that is not only visually appealing but also pleasing to touch.

The Mugo project was realized over a period of four weeks in Bishkek city, Kyrgyzstan. The result is a stunning collection of bottled soda labels that showcase the creativity and innovation of Tanya Dunaeva's typographic design. These labels have already gained recognition, earning the Bronze A' Design Award in 2023. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity and resourcefulness, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
