Intelehealth: Redefining Healthcare Access through Mobile and Web Applications

Revolutionizing Healthcare Delivery in Rural Areas

Intelehealth is a groundbreaking mobile and web application designed by Vishal Jadhav and the team at Prismic Reflections. Inspired by the need to provide healthcare services to underserved rural communities, this innovative solution empowers community health workers and enables remote consultations with doctors, bridging the gap between patients and healthcare providers.

With over 400 million people worldwide lacking access to basic healthcare, the majority of whom reside in rural areas, Intelehealth is a game-changer in improving healthcare delivery. The mobile application equips community health workers with the tools they need to bring essential services to remote areas, while the web application enables doctors to provide consultations remotely.

The strength of Intelehealth lies in its user-centered design approach, which involved extensive research to understand the unique challenges faced by underprivileged individuals. Through user interviews, empathy maps, and usability testing, the team gained valuable insights into the mental models, aspirations, and daily tasks of the target users. This research informed the development of a simplified and intuitive user experience, reducing training time and ensuring easy navigation.

One of the key challenges in designing Intelehealth was empathizing with the people in rural areas and their limited experience with digital platforms. The team had to overcome language barriers and design solutions that were simple, obvious, and easy to understand. Additionally, they had to ensure that the application could function in areas with limited network connectivity, providing real-time updates and setting appropriate user expectations.

The Intelehealth mobile application is designed for health workers and community health workers, allowing them to use their mobile devices while examining patients. On the other hand, the web application is used by doctors on laptops or desktops for reviewing patient details, conducting live calls, and prescribing medication. This seamless interaction between health workers and doctors enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare delivery.

The Intelehealth project commenced in January 2022 and was completed in October 2022. Despite the remote execution by team members located in different areas, the collaboration resulted in a cohesive and impactful design. The Design Studio headquarters in Nashik served as the hub for coordination and communication.

Intelehealth's exceptional design and contribution to improving healthcare access have been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in Interface, Interaction, and User Experience Design. This prestigious accolade celebrates designs that exhibit technical and creative excellence, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. Intelehealth's user-centric approach and commitment to making a positive impact on people's lives truly make it a deserving recipient of this esteemed award.
